If you are struggling with pain in any part of your body, you should have it examined as soon as possible. Although some individuals rather wait it out and see if the pain worsens, our trained professionals at Florida Surgery Consultants urge you to see a doctor right away. The sooner you deal with pain, the less the chances are of having to use an invasive treatment and the sooner you heal. There are different levels of pain, and if you are being restricted by your pain when you are performing your daily activities, you must visit a doctor. You do not want to end up with permanent damage due to pain and you do not want to have to deal with limitations that you would have otherwise not needed to worry about if you had just seen a doctor in the first place. When you need shoulder pain treatment, talk with our orthopedic specialist in Tampa!
What Is A Shoulder Arthroscopy?
If you have encountered severe shoulder pain, it is time to bite the bullet and see an orthopedic specialist in Tampa who can diagnose and treat your pain. An Arthroscopy is a surgical procedure where a doctor will look at, diagnose, and treat the issues inside a joint. This may be recommended if you have inflammation in your joints, if you have an injured joint, or joints become damaged over time. Your doctor will perform this surgery in a hospital setting or outpatient operating room. You will be given anesthesia dependant upon the joint and what the doctor thinks the issue may be. It may be a general anesthesia or your doctor will inject the anesthetic through the spine or the area he will be performing surgery on to numb it. They will use an arthroscope that has a camera lens and a light on it which will allow them to see inside the joint. The surgeon will fill the joint with fluid to widen it for a better view. At this point your shoulder pain treatment will be evaluated and determined by our orthopedic specialist. If the doctor does decide that you need a surgery, they will insert special tools through small incisions called portals which are used to cut, shave, grasp, and anchor stitches into the bone. Keep in mind, your doctor may recommend that you have a traditional open surgery to fix the problem which may be done at the same time as your arthroscopic surgery. When the surgery is complete, the surgeon will remove the arthroscope and any attachments followed by closing the wound with tape or stitches.
What Is The Recovery Time?
The recovery for this type of procedure varies. After joint surgery, it is common to feel some pain and in order to alleviate your pain, a doctor may prescribe pain medication. They also want to prevent any blood clots from forming so you may be prescribed aspirin or other blood thinning medication.
